A New York minute is notoriously frenzied and brief, passing in an ungraspable instant. On the Upper East Side, however, where money is time and there is no shortage of beauty to be noticed, stopping to smell the literal roses is a common practice. You can take it a little slower, with the concession that it is still New York.
Part of the experience of being on the UES is mixing old and new: pairing a vintage watch with a contemporary dress, dining out in new spots with old friends.
I started my Thursday with a comforting and regular haunt (regular in relation to my frequency of visit, not objective regularity) — Ralph’s Coffee on Madison. The flagship store is always a place of reference for interior, fashion, and lifestyle inspiration for me. I spent a morning journaling there and enjoying a cappuccino with a swan design in the foam.
